Hi Benler44,I wrote with WD support, that said:'Unfortunately it is not possible to format the internal drive. What you can do however, is connect an external USB drive to the device.WD My Cloud device supports the following formats for externally attached USB drives: FAT32 NTFS (read and write capability) HFS+J (MAC OS Extended (Journaled) Linux Ext2, Ext3/Ext4 XFS'Don't know if somebody can trick it into a MAC OS extended (journaled) format, but mine is working fine with my Macs, Itunes, Sonos, Time Machine etc. Only downside is, that you cannot use it for iPhoto because of the format. All macs on the network connects fine with a connected external MAC OS extended (jour.) drive, but I haven't tried to put iPhoto on that one.Hope this helps.
Thank you for the response. I'm thinkin of getting the WD my cloud to use it as my main hard drive (my mac has a very small HD), I also have a Time capsule that's working as my back up drive (with time machine.). Do you think that my Time machine would include the WD My Cloud in it's back up process just as a regular mac external hard drive? That's why I was thinking of formating to MAC OS Extended (Journaled). Not so worried about iphoto librariy, that ine I could leave in my mac.Again, thanks so much.
